11 Days In Israel!
TLC Holyland Tours or its representative reserves the right to change the order of the itinerary based on flight schedules or conditions on the ground.
Day 1 – Monday, January 4, 2021
Today you will leave the United States on a trans-continental flight to Tel Aviv, Israel. Your flight departs late in the afternoon and arrives in Israel in the morning of the next day.
Day 2 – Tuesday, January 5, 2021
Arrive in Israel | Caesarea Maritime | Mt. Carmel | Valley of Armageddon | Megiddo | Nazareth | Arrive on the Sea of Galilee
You begin the day by driving up the coast to the ancient port of Caesarea Maritima. You will see the ancient capital of the Romans in Palestine with the great theatre, hippodrome, and harbor. The events of Acts 12 took place here; the Apostle Paul’s imprisonment, his bringing the gospel to the house of Cornelius, and the occasion of Herod being struck by worms in the theatre. A short distance away you will see the incredible aqueducts built by Herod the Great and a later period Crusader fortress nearby. After a short drive along the coast, you begin the climb up the Carmel Mountains to the heights of Mt. Carmel where Elijah slew the prophets of Baal. The view of the Valley of Armageddon will take your breath away as you recall the prophecies of Revelation and the end-time events that will take place in that vast plain. You will descend into the valley and visit Megiddo, Solomon’s ancient chariot city where you will view “Ahab’s Water Tunnel” the hidden water source of the Israelites during the days of the divided kingdom. You cross the entire valley and begin your climb through the lower Galilean Mountains to the childhood home of Jesus, Nazareth. Leaving Nazareth, you drive through the place of the villages of His day such as Cana, where He turned the water into wine. Finally, you arrive at your beautiful hotel on the shore of the Sea of Galilee where you will have dinner and spend the first of three nights.
Day 3 – Wednesday, January 6, 2021
Sea of Galilee | Jesus Boat | Mount of Beatitudes | Tabgha | Capernaum | Lunch by the Sea | Baptism in the Jordan
You will wake to a breath-taking sunrise on the Sea of Galilee. After breakfast enjoy a boat ride and time of worship on the Sea of Galilee as you sail to Nof Ginnosar in a replica of an ancient boat. The authentic 2,000-year-old boat of antiquity dates to the time of Christ. You will follow the steps of Jesus through the Galilee region as you visit the Mt. of Beatitudes and ancient Capernaum, Tabgha and the ancient fisherman's landing called the "Primacy of Peter". You will enjoy lunch by the Sea of Galilee where you will have an opportunity to eat "St. Peter's fish," tilapia, caught fresh out of the waters of the Galilee and then finish the day with the opportunity to be baptized in the Jordan River. After this wonderful day, you can once again relax at your hotel on the Sea of Galilee. After dinner you may enjoy looking out over this beautiful lake and reflect on what you are already experiencing; walking where Jesus walked.
Day 4 – Thursday, January 7, 2021
Tel Dan | Bental | Dan Nature Reserve | Caesarea Philippi | Northern Golan Heights
Today you visit the beautiful northern mountains of Israel. A city gate from the time of Abraham is at Tel Dan along with an altar from the days of the divided kingdom. Walking through the incredible nature reserve at Dan you will see waterfalls, lush greenery, and beautiful clear rushing water and the beginnings of the Dan River, which joins other sources to form the Jordan. You will climb to the site of Peter’s confession of Christ at Caesarea Philippi and hear about “the Gates of Hell.” Traversing the Golan Heights, you can stand at an ancient volcano, and hike to the top of Bental with a view of Damascus. Today you will become familiar with the strategic importance of the region in ancient times and today. You will retire to your resort on the Sea of Galilee for a final evening, have dinner, walk the shore, and overnight.
Day 5 – Friday, January 8, 2021
Gideon Spring | Bet Shan | Jerusalem - Mount of Olives overlook
Awake for your last view of the Sea of Galilee before beginning the drive to Jerusalem. Traveling alongside the Gilboa Mountain Range you will visit Harrod’s Springs and see where Gideon tested his men. Before going down the Jordan Valley you will visit Bet Shan. Though not mentioned in the New Testament, it is the best-preserved Roman city of that time. After a lunch break, you will enjoy the route the pilgrims would have taken as they made their way to the great feasts of Israel. Passing by ancient Jericho, you begin the climb to the breathtaking city of Jerusalem where you will stand on the Mount of Olives overlook to view the city. It is the place that God loved like no other; where He put His Name, where Jesus walked, taught, died, and rose again… Jerusalem. You will check into your hotel, have dinner, and enjoy your first night in the beautiful city of Jerusalem.
Day 6 – Saturday, January 9, 2021
Qumran | Masada | Ein Gedi | Dead Sea | and Wadi Qelt if time permits
You will spend an exciting morning descending to the Plains of Jericho, then on to the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth. You will visit Qumran, the center of the Essenes, where some of the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, continuing south, you will see where the ibex roam at Ein Gedi, David’s hideout from Saul. A short drive away you will be at Masada, the mountain-top fortress where the last zealots against Rome defended their freedom, and at the end, took their own lives rather than be taken as slaves. It is a heroic story many do not know. Before returning to Jerusalem, there will be a stop at the Dead Sea where you may float in the waters if you like, then you will once again follow that ancient pilgrim’s path to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
