Today we board the flig ht f romthe US to Tel Aviv-Israel for next day's landing.
Arrive Ben Gurion airport. After airport formalities, we will be met by your guide & driver. We begin our day driving northwards by the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Continue to the ruins of the ancient city of Caesarea Maritima which was built by King Herod and later became the seat of government of the Roman governors including Pontius Pilate who sat in judgment on Jesus Christ and sentenced him to be crucified. Visit the extensive excavations of the site including the harbor, the Crusader City, the theatre, the hippodrome and the Roman Aquaduct. Continue to Mt. Carmel, where the Prophet Elijah challenged the Priests of Baal (1 Kings 18:17-40). Drive through the Jezreel Valley and Megiddo to Nazareth, a town in the hill country of Galilee where Jesus grew to manhood for a visit to Nazareth Village. Drive through Cana of Galilee, where Jesus performed his first miracle at the wedding feast (John 2:1-11). We arrive in our hotel in the late afternoon and check in for dinner and overnight, Ein Gev Holiday Resort
The Sea of Galilee is rich in memories of the 3 years of Jesus’ Ministry around its shores. We begin the day with boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. We then visit Mt . Beatitudes and Capernaum, the home of Jesus (Matthew 4:13) and several of his disciples. We will visit the House of Peter, as well as the ancient synagogue where Jesus likely taught. Today you will enjoy a "St. Peter's fish" lunch, tilapia caught fresh out of the waters of the Galilee. Visit the visitor’s center at Magdala, the birthplace of Mary Magdalene. Return to your hotel for an inspection, which will be followed by dinner & overnight.
Today we shall drive to the Golan Heig hts and stop at Mt. Bental for an observation point of the Syrian border where we can look into the ghost town of Kuneitra and the “Road to Damascus”. We will stop at one of the sources of the River Jordan at Banias, the site of Caesarea Philippi, where the Apostle Peter made his great confession of faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God. We will enjoy lunch and home hospitality in the private home [Optional Jeep Ride Tour before lunch]
This morning we leave the Sea of Galilee. We drive south through the Jordan Valley to the Gideon Springs of Ein Harod. At the waters of Ein Harod, Gideon collected his people to fight the Midianites, about 1050 B.C. as described in the book of Judges (Judges 7,7). Drive to Beit Shean, the capital city of the Decapolis that the Romans rebuilt in 63 A.D. and renamed Scythopolis. Finally by the end of this day we arrive Jerusalem, the Capital city of Israel where we will g et a view of the city on Mt. Scopus. Check in to the Dan Jerusalem Hotel for dinner & overnight.
Af ter breakfast we set out to the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on the face of the Earth. We drive to the mountain fortress of Massada. Ascent by cable car for an extensive tour of the site which was the scene of the last Jewish resistance ag ainst the Romans in the year 73 AD.Drive to Ein Gedi National Park where David hid when pursued by King Saul (1 Samuel 24). Short hike to the waterfall in the park. You will have the opportunity for a bathe in the Mineral Rich waters of the Dead Sea before returning to the hotel in Jerusalem for dinner & overnight.
After breakfast drive to the top of Mt . Olives for a majestic view of Old and New Jerusalem. We walk down the "Palm Sunday Road" to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations where Christ prayed on the night of His betrayal. We enter the Kidron Valley and walk past the Tomb of Avshalom and reach the Pool of Siloam. We visit the Cit y of David and watch the 3D movie. Enjoy the Machane Yehuda Market [optional tasting tour in the market ] with its flavors, colors and atmosphere before we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast we check out of the hotel. Drive to Bethlehem, the royal city of David. Visit the Nativity Church and the Shepherd's Field. We return to Jerusalem to visit the Israel Museum and the miniature Model of Jerusalem in Jesus times and the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are preserved. This afternoon we will enjoy some free time in the Old City for last minute shopping and we will also visit the last standing remnant of the ancient Temple at the Western (Wailing) Wall, the Holiest place for the Jewish people. You end this memorable tour with a visit of the Gordon's Golgotha and the Garden Tomb with time for communion. Return to your hotel for a farewell meeting which will be followed by dinner & overnight in the hotel.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel. Depart to Ben Gurion Airport for our homebound flight. Flying back home with wonderful and remarkable memories and prayers for NEXT YEAR IN JERUSALEM.
